Research into support for green hydrogen
The project HySUCCESS (Social, User aCCeptable, Economically Sustainable Systems for hydrogen) focusses on the social-economic aspects of hydrogen and how these can contribute to a sustainable energy transition.
The transition to a future with large-scale use of green hydrogen requires more than just technical innovation. It is also important that there is support from the society and that regulations and the economic climate can join this transition. This is why the HySUCCESS -project of GroenvermogenNL is also researching which social economic factors influence the possible role of green hydrogen in a sustainable energy system.
The researchers will first tackle hydrogen’s role in a carbon-neutral energy system. After, they’ll look at:
The project runs until 2028 and aims to make a positive contribution to the development of a sustainable hydrogen economy through scientific insights and practical recommendations.
As part of this project, Entrance/Hanze has been tasked with developing and testing ways to communicate information about hydrogen (and hydrogen developments in the Netherlands) to different target groups. This includes the general public, as well as local stakeholders who are not yet involved in hydrogen projects. The project focuses on both the content and the format of the communication (e.g., infographics, films), with the goal of increasing knowledge on this topic among stakeholders.
The collaboration of HySUCCESS consists of ten university, two research institutes, five universities of applied sciences, one research- and technology organization and three industrial partners.
