About ENTRANCE Lectorates SUSTAINABLE GASES AND FUELS

SUSTAINABLE GASES AND FUELS

The lectorate Sustainable Gases and Fuels focuses, among other things, on extracting green fuels from waste streams. Additionally, the lectorate conducts research into sustainable fuels for shipping, aviation, and heavy industry, enabling them to respond to the needs of regional businesses to innovate and become more sustainable.

The research of lector sustainable gases and fuels Joàn Teerling, focuses on extracting green fuels from waste streams at their point of origin. This aims to make the energy chain more sustainable, reduce the consumption of energy and valuable raw materials and prevent further environmental pollution from waste. The goal is to make the step towards sustainability more attractive for small and medium-sized enterprises, such as livestock farms, achieving “three birds with one stone.” This research has an experimental character. Synthetic methods are tested in the Entrance – Centre of Expertise Energy proving ground to convert residual materials into sustainable fuels using wind or solar energy. Successful methods are scaled up and further tested in pilot projects on location. In collaboration with other lectorates, attention is paid to system integration, the social acceptance of new developments, and promoting the necessary legal and fiscal framework.

Sustainable Fuels

In addition to experimental research, the lectorate gains knowledge of sustainable fuels for shipping, aviation, and heavy industry. This allows it to respond to the needs of regional businesses to innovate and become more sustainable. The technical and financial feasibility of a physicochemical process underpins all these issues. With a thorough understanding of these processes, different options can be compared, aiming to better substantiate fuel choices.
