This year, we are kicking off the season with Barn Talk about the facts and fairy tales surrounding the energy transition. What do you think is true? What is the reality? What is an urban myth and why? Marten van der Laan and Marcel Koenis will take you through the latest developments in the energy transition. We want to test ideas, opinions and thoughts against the facts. Together with you, we will search for the facts behind the fiction. This Barn Talk will be in English.
The energy transition is no longer an abstract concept. We are right in the middle of it. Rising energy prices, geopolitical tensions, climate targets that are getting closer and closer, and discussions about grid congestion, biomass and hydrogen: these are current issues that affect everyone. More and more people want to make their homes, neighbourhoods or lifestyles more sustainable. At the same time, companies, governments and grid operators are struggling with the practical feasibility of this transition.
But what do we actually mean by “the energy transition” in 2025? What is fact and what is opinion? Who sets the course? And how do we deal with diverging interests, limited resources and social resistance? During this Barn Talk, we will explore these topics in depth, leaving room for nuance, questions and doubt. Because the energy transition is not a matter of one truth, but of making choices together in a changing world.
The Barn Talk will take place on 3 September and will start at 4:15 p.m. (doors open at 4:00 p.m.). The Barn Talk is free to attend and will be held in Dutch. Registration is required to reserve a spot in the Energy Barn (first come, first served).
After the Barn Talk, everyone is welcome to join the networking reception, which includes drinks and snacks.

Barn Talks zijn verrassende debatten over verschillende aspecten van de energietransitie. Iedere eerste woensdag van de maand laten we een interessante gastspreker aan het woord over een actueel thema dat raakt aan de energietransitie.
Het is een interactieve sessie, waarin een gesprek wordt gevoerd met andere tafelgasten en het publiek. Zo delen we kennis, bouwen we een netwerk op in Noord-Nederland en blijven we met elkaar in gesprek over wat er nodig is om de energietransitie te versnellen.
