On 22 October, Zohre “Zuzi” Kurt was inaugurated as professor Life Sciences & Renewable Energy at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences! Annermarie Hannink, of the Hanze Executive Board appointed her as a professor following her inaugural lecture and an inspiring symposium.
Zuzi has degrees in both chemical engineering and environmental engineering, Zuzi has always worked at the intersection of disciplines. Her international academic journey has taken her from Middle East Technical University (METU) in Türkiye to the Georgia Institute of Technology in the United States, where she completed a PhD in envi ronmental engineering as well as graduate studies in chemical and biomolecular engineering. She has since conducted research and taught in the United States, Panama, Türkiye, and the Netherlands.
Following her appointment as a university lecturer, Zuzi has written her book More Than Electrons. In it, she explores the role of the Northern Netherlands in the energy system and the growing demand for renewable molecules. Click the button to read her book.
